Supporting Care Women Nepal means empowering women suffering from uterine prolapse in the district of Dhankuta in Eastern Nepal. For many women, CWN health camps represent the first step towards overcoming the shame, pain and suffering that has become a normal part of their daily lives. Each health camp that Care Women Nepal carries out costs roughly $1,500. The cost of screening each woman who attends the health camps is about $5. Surgery to treat severe cases of uterine prolapse costs $200.
To date, Care Women Nepal has screened over 5000 women, fully supported 41 women as they underwent surgery, provided __ women with pessaries and engaged in multiple awareness and advocacy campaigns to bring attention to the realities of uterine prolapse in Nepal.
Your donation goes a long way towards expanding the reach of health camps and enabling women to regain their health, social and economic well-being. Care Women Nepal hopes to increase the number of surgeries they can finance, the number of health camps carried out per annum, and ultimately, to lift the voices of all women in Dhankuta, Nepal. CWN works with the goal of addressing the immediate reproductive health needs of women suffering from prolapse during health camps and surgeries, but also to spur tangible change within the community that will decrease the likelihood that women develop prolapse in the first place.
